John "Jack" Shier

John "Jack" Harry Shier, age 74, of Morrilton, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 2, 2018. He was born March 21, 1944 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a son of Francis Otto Shier and Gertrude Isabella Jackson Shier. He retired as a tech sergeant with the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of service and then served 22 years with the U.S. Postal Service before retiring. Jack was a member of Forte Reach Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Nicholson Shier of Morrilton; son, Mark (Amy) Shier of Rosebud; brother, Tom (Mary) Shier of Leesville, Florida; sister, Patricia Shier of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Cameron, Emilie, and Adah; and great grandchildren, Kaiden, Cohen, Aubrie, and Revan.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, at the Harris Chapel with Bro. Mark Shier, Bro. Ronnie Freeman, Bro. Ronnie Garner, and Bro. Danny Ward officiating. Burial will be 1:00 p.m. at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. Pallbearers will be Cameron Wilson, Bryce Nicholson, Andy Nicholson, Jr., Ryan Nicholson, Dwight Nicholson, and Andy Nicholson, Sr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Nicholson and Wendell Nicholson. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
