Charles Lewis George, 77, of Morrilton, died Friday, May 25, 2018. He was born September 11, 1940 in Bullfrog Valley, Arkansas. He was the son of the late Raymond Lewis George and Rilda Waldo George of Russellville. He was a graduate of Russellville High School and retired in 1992 after working 31 years for AmeriGas Corporation. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Morrilton where he was a deacon and served as the teacher for the high school boys Sunday School Class. He was a lifelong fisherman, and after coaching baseball for many years he served as the Commissioner of the Morrilton Youth Association. He served for 25 years on the Morrilton Fire Department, served on the Executive Fire Board of Conway County, and was a member of the Arkansas LP Gas Board where he also served as President for two years.
He is survived by his wife Myrna Hubbard George; two daughters: Carol (Ken) Cunningham of Hamilton, VA and Kelly (Ricky) Darter of Morrilton; two sons: Allen George of Morrilton and Shawn (Shari) McGehee of Conway; grandchildren: Addie and Jackson Cunningham, Whitney and Carey Darter, Mindy McGehee, Sydney (Matt) Martinez, Casey and Austin Brown; and two great-grandchildren: Riley Heflin and Taylor Brown. He is also survived by three great fishing buddies: Richard Hartman, Brion Simmons, and Fred Hill. He was predeceased by one son: Doug McGehee.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home in Morrilton. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 31, at Owens Cemetery in Dover, Arkansas with Bro. Ron Sanders officiating. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Morrilton or the Morrilton Fire Department.
