Benjamin Edward Carey

Benjamin Edward Carey, age 72, of Atkins, Arkansas, passed away suddenly Saturday, February 24, 2018. He was born January 3, 1946, in Morrilton, Arkansas, a son of the late Havey B. Carey and Mary Vivian Rhoades Carey. Ben was married to Mary Ann Hill Carey for 50 years until her death last year. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1967 to 1971stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Anchorage Alaska. He was retired from the Airport State Police in Anchorage, Alaska, and moved to Atkins in 1997, to be near family and was also a member of Union Grove Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sister, Dianne Carey Hale (Fred) of Russellville; mother-in-law, Mary McMaster of Atkins; sister-in-law, Martha "Jane" Marshall of Bentonville; three nephews, Jeffrey Hale (Melanie) of Russellville, Grayson Hale (Casey) of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Chris Wood (April) of Springdale; one niece, Lindsey Mackey (Justin) of Collierville, Tennessee; seven great- nieces and three great-nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at the Harris Chapel with Bro. David Bishop and Bro. B.J. Duvall officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to service time at the funeral home.
